Hitchin kicked off down the hill with the wind in their favour and were soon in front with a penalty by Ben Wiggins.
Hitchin were penalised for not rolling away but the kick hit the upright, but another penalty against Hitchin was successfully converted to bring the scores level.
Reeds added to their score with a try by the winger who ran from his own half and outstripped the defence, the conversion missed.
Another run by the Reeds winger was brought to a halt by a great tackle by Ali Southward.
Reeds continued to pressure and their 13 coming back against the grain ran through the defence for an unconverted try.
Hitchin at last managed to get some continuity and a penalty on the Reeds 22 was converted by Ben Wiggins.
Hitchin now going up the hill couldn’t keep possession long enough to make their incursions into the Reeds half pay.
Reeds sealed their victory with three more tries in the last quarter through their very efficient back line.
Next week Hitchin travel to Finsbury Park for a top of the table clash
