Not a good day at the office!
An early Hitchin error allowed the visitors to score a converted try with only seven minutes on the clock. Attacking the visitors in midfield, a loose missed pass in the backs was intercepted to allow a touchdown in the right had corner
The Hitchin pack were holding their ground but the Kilburn backs looked dangerous Prop Sean Mcginnity was injured (to return later) , but after 20 minutes another error, as a pass was again intercepted for a try under the posts , duly converted
.
Hitchin struck back with a well taken try, as better handling allowed Richard Sinclair to put Antoine Oget into space, for the young winger to beat the cover defence and score, Carwyn Morgan converting. A taste of what was to come?
Kilburn were next o score, wide out on the left following several rucks on th Hitchin 5 m line. Three minutes later they scored again, their centre bursting straight through the Hitchin defence.
With the first half nearly over captain James Bolter forced his way over from a ruck on the line, to make the halftime score 12 – 26.

Within 2 minutes of the restart, after a good passage of play by the Hitchin forwards led by Bolter, lock Ryan Arbon went over for an unconverted try to narrow the Kilburn lead to 9 points
But any thoughts a of a comeback vanished with yet another gift for Kilburn, as they latched on to another loose pass to cross for 5 points
Minutes later the visitors’ backs broke through in midfield (suspicion again of a forward pass) to add to the score .
Now Hitchin were defending again with a maul on their 22, won
by Kilbuurn who re-cycled to run in a try on the left , converted from near touch
With ten minutes to go the rout continued, as Vinne Kevans’ clearance kick was charged down for the visitors to win the race for the touch down
Hitchin secured a valuable bonus point, as scrum half Rhys Gregory broke through the Kilburn cover to find Hitchin's player of the match Bolter in support , who crashed over for Morgan to add the extra points
Kilburn, however ,were not finished, scoring 2 futher concerted tries as they ran through a tired and ineffective Hitchin defence to win the encounter by 10 tries to 4
This was a disappointing effort from Hitchin, who made far too many mistakes, and were over-run in the second half by an increasingly confident Kilburn side, who have turned round their season after losing the first 6 matches
